Since being back at school it's really starting to hit me that all the fun I had over the summer is ending and work begins. Working on all of my assignments for the week really has me missing the Michigan trip I took with my mom right before school started back up. The lake was crystal clear and beautiful to look at. During the trip, we got to visit a lavender field which was my favorite part. It was fields of purple and I couldn't help but stare in awe. The day was spent taking pictures, eating the sweet treats from that farm nearby and taking a tour of the property. If only those days could last a little longer. Our trip continued with visiting the islands on the lake where we visited butterfly houses, and saw incredible views that would convince you that you're on a Florida beach. The trip ended on a high note... literally. We went hiking across bridges that went over the mountains of the ski slopes that that state is known for. With getaways like this, who would ever want to go back. But instead of looking at the views, I’m back in Ada looking at the cornfields. Although this place is like a second home to me, I can’t help but wish I was back in Michigan where I had no homework or early morning classes. At least I am lucky enough to have the memories and experiences that traveling to a new place brings. I can’t wait to go back and explore even more with my family. The trip may have ended but I will carry these memories and experiences with me forever. Now, back to crushing this semester, working towards my goals, and maybe even planning another trip for the next break. Where should I go next?

This is such a cute blog because I am from Michigan! I know exactly what places you are talking about and I've been to all of them too. Was that rock arch picture taken on Mackinac Island? I have the same picture from my trip there when I was 11. We went to the butterfly houses as well and took a bike trip around the entire island. I understand the hard transition going from those beautiful views to Ada. Let me know if you go to Michigan again and I'll give you a few recommendations!
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounded like it was so much fun! I have always wanted to go to a lavender field or a tulip field because it would be so pretty, so I'm glad you got to experience it! I have been to Michigan with my family for vacation many times and it is always fun. I haven't been to any of the places you mentioned, so I'll have to keep those in mind for next time!
ReplyDeleteThat trip sounds absolutely amazing! I was just recently in Northern Michigan last weekend at Crystal Mountain where we saw the crystal clear lake, and even kayaked down Crystal River! I didn't have a chance to climb up the mountain since we only had two days there, but I bet the view breathtaking! It was absolutely beautiful and I am right there with you wishing I could go back and not worry about my responsibilities.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are beautiful! I'm glad you got to experience those views! I totally agree that it has been an adjustment coming back to Ada. I went to California towards the end of the summer and I miss soaking up all of the sun and tanning at the beach. It is always nice to not have to worry about assignments or 8 am classes, but I'm hopeful that this semester will turn out to be just as fun!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your trip was great, and those views look amazing! I'm from Michigan, and I tell everyone I know who isn't from there that nothing beats summertime in the Mitten State. I have a cottage up in Northern Michigan that we frequently visit during the summer, and we went just before I came back to campus. It hasn't even been a month, and I'm already ready to be out on the boat under the hot sun!
