Marketing with Pinterest

For those who don’t know me, I have created a Pinterest board for everything in my life. My future wedding, house, hairstyle, wardrobe and more. It wasn’t until reading a chapter on Pinterest marketing that I actually thought about what type of strategy companies would use, or even the benefit of trying to market on Pinterest. In this blog, I wanted to exclusively focus on the strategy behind the marketing side of the social media site.

First, I want to start off by talking about optimal times to post on Pinterest. I didn’t even know that it made a difference when someone posted on the site but, I was wrong. Apparently, posting on Sunday is not a good idea because it’s the worst day to post. The best days of the week to upload a post are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There are also optimal times of when to post for each of these days which typically ranges from 12pm to around 3pm.

Another aspect of strategizing your Pinterest post is to specify when and how you post based on the industry. An example of this would be to post something fashion-related on Thursday because that’s when those types of posts do the best. Also when posting on the site, make sure that the visual is high quality to get the most out of your posts. I know that personally, I am more likely to pin posts that are aesthetic and high quality.

Next, I wanted to talk about capitalizing on trends. When a trend is picking up on any social media site it is important for brands to hop on it so the algorithm will allow the post to reach a larger audience. Trends on Pinterest are more likely to take off and go on for a longer period of time so companies are only missing out on potential revenue when they don’t pay attention to what’s popular.

Overall, Pinterest is a social media site that shouldn’t be looked over when trying to market a product or service and those who are already using Pinterest should pay attention to the details behind their uploads.
