Marketing With Snapchat

      

          I don’t know about you, but I love social media. According to my screen time, Snapchat has consistently been my most used social media platform (competing with Tik Tok). I have always used the platform to message my friends and take cute pictures with. I never stopped to think about how the app is also used to market. There are strategies just for uploading a short video or a picture. So I’ve decided to talk about my thoughts on the planning and thought that goes into posting a Snapchat. Snapchat is obviously catered to the younger generation so making sure that the content matches the audience is important. This is why Snapchat content should be short and fun. Everyone has different tastes, but I love it when brands have a sense of humor to their posts. This is something that I would personally expect from a brand marketing using Snapchat. 

Snapchat Strategy Icks: 

Something that I honestly didn’t know about Snapchat is that there are optimal times to post. I understand that based on your target audience you would want to post when they see it, but if your audience is broad, how do you know when to post? Besides, Snapchat’s are up for 24 hours so how much does the time of your post affect the views? I personally have never been swayed to go somewhere or buy something based on a Snapchat. Maybe I’m crazy but I don’t necessarily see the point when there are other platforms that would likely reach a larger number of people. 

Favorite Snapchat Strategy:

Aside from using the platform for marketing, a strategy that I really enjoy is when people tell stories on the app. I love to watch vlogs on Snapchat of people’s day to day life. They are shorter than a YouTube video but you still get to see the most important parts. I think that this would help connect people to another person or brand. Overall, I think like all social media platforms, Snapchat is what you make of it and how much work you put into it.
