Marketing With YouTube

I have been watching YouTube videos ever since I was in middle school. I loved beauty influencers, hauls, and DIY videos. I even thought about creating a channel myself, but I never quite understood how much goes into it. There is a lot of attention to detail and thought that goes into each post. Whether someone wants to become an influencer or a company wants to promote their products both parties likely have content strategies so they know what to post and when to post it. I have always been intrigued about what a day in the life of a YouTube influencer would look like. For example, content strategy is important to influencers to help them come up with ideas to get the most views on their uploads.

When developing a content strategy for YouTube, there are a few different things to keep in mind. First, make sure to test the thumbnails so that your viewers can see the picture from their phones. I honestly wouldn’t think about this, but it makes sense that all users should do it before posting. The size of the thumbnails on a computer versus a phone will be different so the image users choose is important. Thumbnails can increase clicks on the video increasing overall channel growth. Another suggestion is to look outside of YouTube for content. Inspiration can come from anywhere and being unique sets users apart. Brainstorming ideas using outside sources makes it easier to create planned content and not just post something random. Finally, I think an important thing to keep in mind is to experiment with different video content

Overall, there are different reasons for people to watch a YouTube video. It’s important to consider this so you better understand your audience. Shoppers are also influenced by watching YouTube videos because they are more likely to trust an influencer they feel close to than a company ad. All in all, YouTube Influencers have a lot to think about just to create one successful video, and more work goes into it than I would expect.

  1. I definitely agree that thumbnails are an important part to grabbing the audiences attention and gaining views. I also used to watch YouTube since I was in middle school and would watch DIYs all the time! I have definitely fallen victim to a couple good thumbnails before and now that were looking into it, it's cool to understand how it all works.
