Now that I have finished my Sims I am writing this blog to reflect on it. It was a lot more work than I had anticipated it would be and it also took a lot of thought and consideration. However, I feel like the Sims helped me learn the most throughout the entire semester. As I was reviewing for this week's exam I realized that a lot of things I knew were connected to doing the sim's homework.
For example, on the sims, we had to make social media advertisement posts based on an overall goal. Different types of ads are actually under different categories. This actually helped me to make more connections than I thought. I think the best and worst part of doing the sims was treating it like a competition. After every round, I checked to see how I ranked overall among the rest of the class. It made me a lot more invested and motivated to complete each sim so I could end up in at least the top 5.
All in all, I didn’t mind doing the sims but they did take a lot of time. I would say the worst type of social media advertising is working with influencers because they expect a lot of money that I didn’t have in the budget. The best type of advertising was paid advertisements because it helped reach the target audience. If I could do it again I would probably ask for a bigger budget and nicer influencers.
